MISSION & VISION
MISSION & VISION
E91's MISSION:
Helping People Take Next Steps with Jesus.
No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, everyone has another step to take. We believe that together in community we can grow closer to God and to one another. We work to equip people to lead and always extend the love of Jesus to others.
CORE VALUES
As a church, we have four core values that remain at the heart of everything we do:
(Mark 12:30, 31; John 13:34, 35; Philippians 2:1-5)
Love for the Lord is our most important relationship, but God did not create us to follow him in isolation. Discipleship happens best in a relationship. Emotional health and spiritual maturity require more than just attending Sunday services. Connecting with others is one of the most important things we do, so we encourage everyone at E91 to join a team or a small group.
(Deuteronomy 6:1-9; Psalm 78:4-7; Psalm 145:4; 2 Timothy 2:2)
At E91, we are all on mission together for Christ regardless of age. We encourage different age groups to engage with each other and serve the Lord together, building bridges between the generations. For kids and students to think that the church matters, we must show them that they matter. We encourage them to serve, seeking to get each child or student into a healthy relationship with a leader who can guide them to take their next steps with Jesus. We want to multiply disciple-makers, so we invest in leadership development, and we are always on the lookout for apprentices to develop. And while we value and give ministry focus to people of all ages, we recognize that the strategies that got us here won’t necessarily reach future generations, so we look for creative ways to engage the next generation with programs and events geared specifically to them.
(Matthew 6:9, 10, 33; Acts 1:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; 1 Peter 4:10, 11)
God’s kingdom is bigger than just E91, and every person has a part to play in it. We seek to be good neighbors who welcome and serve people of all racial and ethnic groups in our community, city, state, and world. We challenge everyone to invest in E91’s mission locally and globally, and to pray for and disciple others both inside and outside the church. We evaluate everything we do to help more people take their next steps with Jesus. We use the gifts God has given us (time, money, talents, knowledge, skills, and abilities) to grow his kingdom.
(John 14:15; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17; James 1:22)
We don’t stray from God’s Word in any teaching—either from the stage or in groups and personal relationships. We encourage people to study on their own and with others, and we always look to the Bible for the first and best answer. We do our best to put biblical truth into action by practicing a personal lifestyle of worship and prayer, participating in regular corporate worship, and honoring Christ in our daily lives.
THE
VISION
WHERE
WE'RE
HEADED
For over 100 years, E91 has been helping people take next steps with Jesus. As we look ahead, we're building on that legacy with a clear vision rooted in Jesus' final instructions to His disciples:
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts 1:8
This passage shapes how we see our calling. God is inviting us to be both a destination place and a launching pad—a church where people come to encounter Jesus and are then sent out to transform lives, families, and communities in His name. To fund this vision, 10% of every dollar given to the general budget goes to support outreach activities, church planting and global missions.
Transforming the Castleton campus into a destination and launching pad
The Castleton campus sits at a strategic crossroads—midway between Broad Ripple and Hamilton Town Center, positioned to reach both the city and the suburbs. We're maximizing this location to serve our community in new ways.
The Commons represents this vision in action. This new community space at the corner of 91st Street and Castle Creek Parkway is specifically designed outside the walls of the church building to create a welcoming place where faith and everyday life intersect. Through The Commons, we're creating:
The Commons is more than a building project. It's about removing barriers and creating more pathways for people to encounter Jesus right here in Castleton.
Serving the Castleton and Lawrence community
The community around the campus has changed dramatically over the past decades. Within a one-mile radius, 67% of the population is single, and our neighborhood reflects beautiful racial and ethnic diversity. Within five miles, nearly 70% (112,000 people) are not actively engaged in any church.
We see this as an incredible opportunity to be a "bridge church"—welcoming people across racial, socio-economic, and generational lines. We're actively serving our local community through:
We can't wait for people to come to us, so we're going to them, being good neighbors who demonstrate Jesus' love in tangible ways.
Expanding to reach the Northside
As the E91 church family has grown, so has our calling to be the local church in more local places. Many in the E91 family who live north of 146th Street have been faithfully living out relational discipleship in their neighborhoods—but the 25-30 minute drive to Castleton has been a barrier when inviting neighbors to experience worshiping community.
That's why we're launching E91 Northside Campus in fall 2027, led by Lake Webb as Campus Pastor.
The purpose of establishing a new campus isn't about building a bigger church. We want to make it easier for people to connect with Jesus and each other where they live. We're looking for 100 people to serve on the launch team, helping establish a new worshiping community that maintains E91's DNA while meeting the Northside community right where they are.
Continuing a legacy of church planting and missions
Since 1984, E91 has directly influenced the establishment of 75 daughter churches across the United States, with thousands of people actively engaged in these communities. Our commitment to global missions remains strong:
E91 is multiplying disciples who multiply disciples, extending the reach of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Living Out the Vision Together
The vision is for everyone who calls E91 home. So, consider yourself invited to join in! Whether you've been here for decades or you're just discovering what it means to follow Jesus, you have a part to play.
How you can engage:
Pray for God's leading in each area of this vision
Give to support The Commons, Northside Campus, and global missions
Serve on a launch team, in your neighborhood, or through community partnerships
Invite friends, neighbors, and coworkers to experience Jesus through E91
Go as a missionary, church planter, or disciple-maker wherever God calls you
